Cooking directions

For best results, cook straight from frozen. However, if it’s been thawed, cut the cooking time down accordingly. Whichever method you use, the steak needs to come out piping hot the whole way through, not just hot on the outside.

Oven: First, heat the oven to 220°C (425°F, gas mark 7). Then take the steaks out of all packaging and lay them on a tray, centre of the oven, for 18–20 minutes.

Deep fry: Similarly, get the oil to 180°C (350°F), remove all packaging, and lower the steaks in fully submerged. After that, 4–5 minutes should do it — drain well before serving.

That said, these are guideline times rather than fixed rules, since ovens and fryers vary — so always check the steak is properly hot through the middle before it goes out.

Storage

Keep frozen at -18°C. Because it’s individually frozen, though, you’re not committed to using a whole pack at once — instead, take what you need and the rest stays in good condition.
